How will I be assessedĬoursework, essays, practical design projects and assessments take place at key points throughout the programme. This year culminates in a substantial body of work primed for exhibition at the degree show and a portfolio ready to be presented to prospective employers and clients. They will also be required to participate in live competition briefs from leading international organisations and consolidate their awareness of working methods and practices within the creative industries with particular reference to contemporary illustration. Final Yearīuilding on the experience acquired in Year 2, students will be well-placed to devise their own programme of study. Studio+ can also include a work placement abroad or a study abroad period through the Erasmus programme with internationally recognised art and design faculties partnered with NCAD. Studio+ is an optional year open to all Design students allowing you to engage with the world beyond NCAD by gaining practical work experience in the form of internships and industry placements on live commercial, social or community projects.
Projects include: ‘real-world’ commissions opportunities to collaborate with students from other disciplines and an extended visual research study trip. Students will begin to harness a wide range of techniques and methodologies, through an exploration of image-based visual language.
The fundamentals of illustration, drawing, printing, composition, narrative and sequence are studied through intensive research and development strategies. Thorough research is an on-going necessity so that students will be able to respond to diverse and demanding project briefs, guided by enthusiastic and experienced staff. A lot of the D1 schools do have club teams, so that’s another way to be on a team without having to confine the search to D3 schools.In a culturally-rich and dynamic environment, students will be encouraged to develop their image-making skills and problem-solving abilities throughout the programme whilst constantly being challenged to create original work that is strong in content and aesthetically engaging. Syracuse is a great place for this… and Drexel is a “major city” school with a terrific co-op program in this field and great co-op business programs too, but again a D1 school. The problem with wanting a sports management program and wanting to play is that these programs are most often at D1 schools. Milwaukee would be the most urban of these I think, and it has a good-sized business school, but they’re all (except for Madison) D3 and they have business programs of varying size and scope.
In suburban LA (maybe not urban enough) Chapman and Claremont McKenna (the latter a top econ school but more econ/management than business/finance)įor financial safeties, look to the U of Wisconsin campuses that offer discounted tuition through the MHEP program. In the Seattle/Tacoma area, U of Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran In the Boston area, MIT/Sloan if your son is a super-amazing student!.Tufts (has econ with finance minor, not a formal undergrad business degree), Babson, and Brandeis In NYC, NYU/Stern, the CCNY schools, and Stevens just across the river
